It’s the Varmints or Me. . .
Here’s a shout out to the garden bloggers community: I’m looking for advice on how to deal with anonymous varmints that are stealing into my garden beds at night and taking bites out of my tomatoes. They don’t eat the whole tomato – only take bites out of the tomatoes that are almost ready for picking, and then leave the insult on the vines. Fie on those varmints!
Any tips of what has worked for you would be most appreciated. Otherwise you might read in the news of an explosion a la Carl Spackler in Caddy Shack. . .

Pick them before they’re ripe? That’s what we’ve been doing. We’re not sure whether it’s a raccoon or a deer. Yes, deer eat tomato vines, maybe one tasted the tomato, but didn’t like the lypocene or antioxidants.
